The Premier League has concluded the sale of live audio commentary rights for the three seasons 2019/20 to 2021/22. Seven commentary rights packages were up for bids, and the rights were bought by BBC Sport and TalkSport.

BBC Sport bought four of the packages while TalkSport bought the rest which gives a total of 260 Premier-League matches per season for the three-season period.

BBC Sport will have first pick of the 15.00 Saturday matches while TalkSport will have second pick. TalkSport has bought the rights to Saturdays 12.30 and 17.30, while BBC Sport will have the rights to Sunday, Friday and Monday matches and the 19.30-20.00 Saturday matches.

TalkSport CEO very pleased

Scott Taunton, the CEO of Wireless, TalkSport's parent company, is very pleased with the deal. The new deal means that TalkSport will be sitting on the live audio transmission of most Saturday matches:

“TalkSport is now the game day destination for live Premier League action on Saturday. We’ve consolidated our position as the Premier League’s only national commercial radio partner, winning more games and a key new slot on Saturday lunchtime,” Taunton said.

Premier League Director of Broadcasting Paul Molnar is very pleased with the two buyers as they “deliver excellent audio coverage of the Premier League”.
