Bilbao-based Athletic Club plan to make revenues from innovation activities the fourth key revenue stream alongside broadcast, matchday and commercial.

The club have signed agreements with multinational companies, startups and universities from all over the world with a view to potentially forming joint-venture businesses.

Aitor Elizegi, president of Athletic Club, says the club can embrace change while staying true to their heritage: "It's all about being local and global."

They created an innovation hub in 2019 to improve sporting performance and increase revenues.
