Off The Pitch has compared Manchester United's financial performance last season to the other few European clubs having published 2019/20 accounts such as Ajax, FC Barcelona, Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Lyon.

Similar to a host of other big European clubs, Manchester United's turnover fell by 18 per cent last season following the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic.

On a positive note, the Premier League club managed to increase their commercial revenue, a feat only replicated by Borussia Dortmund among the selected clubs.

The change in Manchester United's pre-tax result was among the largest with a negative difference of €54.9 million - beaten only by Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona.
