For the first time in 20 years, FC Barcelona crashed out of the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, and are now chasing the UEFA Europa League title.

The first leg of the newly introduced Europa League knockout round play-offs ended in a draw after Barcelona’s new €55 million signing, Ferran Torres, missed several golden chances.

Financially there’s a significant size gap in revenue, but profitability, cashflow and debt figures show that Napoli is a much healthier business than Barcelona.

This Thursday will see one of the two favourites to win the Europa League miss out on further European football this season and the huge amount of prize money that follows.
