FIFA Clearing House delays leaves stadium project in dust

Last month Off The Pitch broke a story about how bureaucratic problems at FIFA’s Clearing House (FCH) had led to significant delays to transfer payments, impacting hundreds of clubs globally.

Despite a massive increase in completed transactions, clubs worldwide continue to report significant financial disruptions, with an extreme example showing how a new stadium development has been left mothballed.

Why it matters: The FCH was supposed to identify hundreds of millions in missing training development rewards, benefiting grassroots and junior clubs.

The perspective: A criticism of the FCH is that clubs with little or no bureaucratic infrastructure are having to maintain the same administrative burden as those with huge resources, leading to breakdowns in the system.
