20 August 2021
Domestic league football has returned all around Europe, with what looks to become a season returning to normality.
This is contrasted by the recently published accounts from 2019/20. We have looked at how the pandemic affected finances at a league level.
Premier League generated almost €2 billion more than the Bundesliga in 2019/20 – yet had five times the collective losses.
Ligue 1 had by far the highest wages-to-revenue over the past three years.
Premier League is still by far the largest in terms of generating revenue, stacking up almost €2 billion more than LaLiga in 2019/20. The recent LaLiga/CVC-deal is likely to close that gap further in the coming years.
