Agents are generally frowned upon within the football industry and accused of disturbing the relationship between players and clubs. We have taken a closer look at the highest fees paid by clubs in the Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 in 2019.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham each paid intermediaries approximately the same amount as the profit they generated from player sales in 2019.

Although Tottenham and Arsenal both had agent fees of €13 million, it seems Tottenham paid the higher premium. Arsenal's total transfer spending amounted to €112 million, while Tottenham's came to less than a quarter of that - just €25 million.

Sunderland AFC paid more than €3 million to agents in 2019, which exceeds the coming season's wage cap of approximately €2.8 million, recently implemented for League One.
