Spurs' chairman, Daniel Levy, has been criticised for not giving Pochettino more time. Data shows that Levy was extremely patient.
In Premier League history, other "Big Six" managers were sacked far earlier than Pochettino, who was struggling heavily for almost a whole calendar year.
Levy and Pochettino enjoyed a strong relationship - maybe even friendship - that made the decision a hard one to execute for the Spurs chairman.
Mauricio Pochettino's first competitive match as Tottenham's new manager after bringing down the curtain on an impressive spell with Southampton was at Upton Park on 16th August 2014. Back then, Eric Dier came up with a dramatic late winner for ten-man Spurs to signal the first stepping stone on Tottenham's way towards establishing themselves as a regular member of the "Top Four" in the Premier League and a solid contender in the Champions League.
