Is a manager allowed to profit off selling players? Football stakeholders silent as lawyers question legality of Sean Dyche's alleged development clause

FIFA's regulations on third-party ownership and influence clearly state none other than the clubs involved in transferring a player and the player himself are allowed to profit off a transfer.
Despite that, Burnley FC manager Sean Dyche allegedly has a development clause in his contract, described as a common practice, entitling him to five per cent of academy players' transfer fees.
One lawyer says this is a clear breach of the rules, but another questions whether FIFA would find a way around it. Both agree there is a need for FIFA to clarify its position.
The international governing body remains silent on the matter, as does a number of other important stakeholders.
It raised eyebrows when the Daily Mail last week reported that Sean Dyche, the Burnley FC manager, has a so-called "development clause" in his contract, entitling him to five per cent of the transfer fee of any sale of an academy player.
