German Football League's chief executive speaks out in favour of wage cap

Christian Seifert is proposing to create a task force which would examine the future of sustainability in professional football.
A wage cap would be against current European Union regulations.
Chief executive of the German Football League (DFL), Christian Seifert, has indicated he is in favour of implementing a wage cap in football in a bid to increase the future sustainability of the game.
With football in Europe suspended and clubs' revenue streams largely in decline due to the coronavirus pandemic, a number of key stakeholders have proposed revamping the entire business of the sport in order to prevent similar future scenarios of financial uncertainty.
