Premier League lawyers accuse Manchester City of adopting delaying tactics in legal process over its investigation into alleged breaches of financial control rules.

City accuse EPL of “bias” and fail to recognise arbitration process it signed up to.

Investigatory process relates to publication of leaked emails and documents by the German magazine Der Spiegel in November 2018 that suggested sponsorship payments by Etihad were supplemented by other companies controlled by the Abu Dhabi royal family.

Lawyers acting for the Premier League have accused Manchester City of delaying an investigation into its financial affairs in court documents seen by Off The Pitch.

According to the documents EPL lawyers accused City of using a “tactic” of making “as many procedural applications and complaints as it possibly can in order to slow the day when it will actually have to provide the documents and information.”
