Real Madrid president has constantly surprised football with his innovative deals; the Super League is just the latest of many.

74-year-old billionaire is founder and main shareholder of one of Spain’s biggest construction groups.

Perez has been planning a break away from UEFA-run competition for many years and still insists that the Super League will happen.

With Europe’s leading clubs abandoning the Super League in droves, and leading football executives hiding in their boardrooms or falling on their own swords, one man this week has stood firm.

Appearing on Spanish radio on Wednesday night, the billionaire business magnate, Real Madrid president and chief plotter, Florentino Perez assumed both a tone of outrage that his allies had deserted, but ultimately defiance.

“We are going to keep working,” he pledged. “We are looking for ways of getting this done. It would be a shame not to get it done.”
