Premier League clubs embark on their pre-season tours next month as they ramp up efforts to grow international fan bases and burnish their global reputations.

Financial benefits accrue from match fees in overseas summer tournaments, such as the International Champions Cup, and increased sales of club strips. But clubs were reluctant to comment to directly about the wider commercial benefits and revenue repercussions of their foreign excursions. Next year’s accounts may reveal how successful they have been.
