Offthepitch.com understands that radical new plans to transform the Champions League, and include promotion and relegation between European competitions, were discussed at the UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Nyon on Wednesday.

Two sources with knowledge of the talks, said that there was “significant overlap” between plans presented at the meeting and those previously associated with the European Club Association [ECA], the representative body of more than 230 European clubs.
