20 May 2019
BMW was close to replacing Audi with Bayern talking publicly about a potential deal.
Both the carmaker and the club have confirmed the talks ended unsuccessfully.
BMW was reportedly close to signing a comprehensive partnership with German champions Bayern Münich. But on Saturday, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung wrote that the negotiations had broken down with a BMW spokesperson telling the paper:
“We have ended the negotiations and will not be a sponsor of FC Bayern.”
FC Bayern have confirmed the breakdown, saying in a statement that they prefer not to reveal the reason for the inability to agree to a deal.
