Arsenal is on the hunt for a new technical director after Sven Mislintat left his position as the club’s head of recruitment last month after just over a year in the job.

Arsenal had targeted the Spaniard Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, also known as Monchi, who by many is regarded as a transfer wizard with an impressive network of scouts around the world, but the former Sevilla goalkeeper has turned down a three-year deal from Arsenal, according to Daily Mail.

Monchi has officially returned to Sevilla in the role he also held two years ago, and he has been a huge part of Sevilla’s success in Europe with some of his transfers giving the club a huge financial boost.

A huge miss on potential power transfers

While doing his thing in Sevilla, Monchi succeeded in scouting both Dani Alves, Seydou Keita and Ivan Rakitic, who were all very profitable bargains, and it is understandable why Arsenal were keen on bringing the Spaniard to London, as he is one of the best at his job, and according to Daily Mail, Monchi also rejected offers from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal are still in the search for a technical director with former Arsenal player Marc Overmars in prime position for the job, though he is still bound by contract in Ajax until 2020.
